Behavior Standards

Keeping Our School GREAT!

  • Attend school every day.
  • Arrive at all classes on time with all required materials.
  • Be considerate and courteous to others.
  • Respect the rights and property of others.
  • Follow all school, specific grade level, and classroom rules.
  • Walk to line up at all times.  Walk on the concrete.
  • Take pride in the preparation of quality schoolwork.
  • Accept responsibility for learning in school.
  • Work well independently as well as cooperatively in groups.
  • Schedule specific and regular study times outside of school, away from distractions.
  • Seek out the assistance and support of teachers and other school employees as needed.
  • Discuss schoolwork and school experiences with parents/guardians.

Student Code of Conduct

Behavior is considered appropriate when students are diligent in study, careful with school property, courteous, and respectful towards their teachers, other staff, students and volunteers.
 
Positive Expectations

  1. Follow the directions of all staff members at all times.
  2. Interact safely with others (including - keeping hands, feet, and objects to yourself.) 
  3. Exercise good conduct that supports learning in class
  4. Show respect for others.
  5. Attend class regularly.
  6. Come to class on time with necessary materials.
  7. Respect school property and the property of others.
  8. Remain in class or assigned areas during the class.
  9. Dress appropriately.
  10. Use appropriate language.
  11. Do one’s own work when independent work is required.
  12. Participate in class activities and discussions.
  13. Complete homework assignments on time.
  14. Honesty.

Unacceptable Behavior

  1. Any unsafe behavior.

  2. Disorderly conduct—any behavior that is disruptive to the educational process and/or orderly operation of the school.
     
    Student Code of Conduct: The Carlsbad Unified School District will not tolerate behavior that infringes on the safety of any student.  A student shall not intimidate or harass another student through words or actions.  Such behavior includes:  direct physical contact, such as hitting or shoving; verbal assaults, such as teasing or name-calling; and social isolation or manipulation.

  3. Possession of weapons or other unsafe objects.

  4. Defiance of authority—refusing to follow directions from any school personnel and/or failure to change behavior when directed by any school personnel and/or failure to respond to any assigned discipline.

  5. Bullying and intimidation

  6. Lying and forgery - including through writing, telephone, impersonation, false signature or false initials.

  7. Cheating

  8. Sexual harassment 

  9. Gambling-including participating in games of chance for the purpose of exchanging money or something of value.

  10. Abuse of technology

  11. Riding anything with wheels on campus (unless part of a school/class activity).

  12. Tardiness.

  13. Truancy.

  14. Bullying-defined as exposing a person to negative, abusive actions repeatedly over time.  Bullying can be direct or indirect and includes specific types of physical, verbal, and/or psychological aggression and intimidation that occurs repeatedly creating an on-going pattern of harassment and abuse.
