red ribbon week
We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week (RRW) October 27-31 with an emphasis on Healthy and Smart Choices. Each student will receive a red wristband or ribbon to wear all week long and beyond! Each day, students may dress up in support of a specific theme as listed below:
Thursday: Crazy Sock Day. We are focusing on our legs and feet as we emphasize the healthy choice of exercise and moving around!
Friday: Be Yourself. Be yourself no matter what anyone else is doing!
NEW FOR RED RIBBON WEEK
To emphasize keeping our bodies healthy, we will be creating a BORN TO BE HEALTHY poster to display on campus. As part of the fun, we are looking for you to bring a copy of your baby photo to add to the poster to reinforce your commitment to making healthy choices. Photos will not be returned, so make a photocopy or bring in a photo and we can make a photocopy for you! This is for students, staff, and parents! https://vimeo.com/110315897
COSTUMES – OCTOBER 31
Please make sure that all costumes are child-friendly. Costumes should not drag on the ground, eyes must be seen at all times if wearing a mask and vision not obstructed. Costumes should not contain sharp, pointy objects or materials that may accidentally strike another student and costumes should not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

CLOTHES DONATIONS NEEDED
Our health office is in need of donated clothes. These items are used when we have a temporary need of a change of clothes (as when students find that ONE muddy spot on the field). The majority of the need is for Kindergarten - 2nd grade items, but we could always use sweats for grades 3 - 5. Just drop them off in the front/health office. Items needed include:
Shorts (with adjustable waistbands)
Interested in being part of the groups that support our school? Visit the webpages under the Parents tab to learn more about PTA, School Site Council, and Friends of Hope School. These groups are always looking for more volunteers to join their group to help support our school.
Your student has new standards to master! The Common Core State Standards offer schools, teachers, students and parents clear, understandable, and consistent standards in English language arts and mathematics. The CCSS defines the knowledge and skills students should take away from their K-12 schooling to be successfully prepared for postsecondary and career opportunities.
The Smarter Balanced Practice Tests allow teachers, students, parents, and other interested parties to experience the features of online testing and gain insight into how Smarter Balanced will assess students’ mastery of the Common Core.
We encourage you to take the practice test by following this link: http://www.smarterbalanced.org/pilot-test/
