Some people dream of success... while others wake up and work hard at it. ~Author Unknown
Interested in being part of the groups that support our school? Visit the webpages under the Parents tab to learn more about PTA, School Site Council, and Friends of Hope School. These groups are always looking for more volunteers to join their group to help support our school.
Your student has new standards to master! The Common Core State Standards offer schools, teachers, students and parents clear, understandable, and consistent standards in English language arts and mathematics. The CCSS defines the knowledge and skills students should take away from their K-12 schooling to be successfully prepared for postsecondary and career opportunities.
The Smarter Balanced Practice Tests allow teachers, students, parents, and other interested parties to experience the features of online testing and gain insight into how Smarter Balanced will assess students’ mastery of the Common Core.
We encourage you to take the practice test by following this link: http://www.smarterbalanced.org/pilot-test/
Things to Know at Hope
Our Jog-A-Thon is February 11th. This is a high energy event for students and parents! We need volunteers to help tally laps and run/cheer with the students. Wear comfortable clothing and sunscreen. We provide a snack, bottle of water (send another for extra hydration), and a cool treat after the run. Return the Sponsor Forms to the classroom by the day of the Jog-a-Thon. Click here for more details on our Jog-a-Thon webpage.

The Great Kindness Challenge
Thank you to Jennifer Hardy and Syndi Lyon for hosting our lunchtime events for The Great Kindness Challenge. Thank you students, staff, and parents for continuing to promote kindness. Let's keep the kindness going everyday, all the time!
It's time for some basketball. If you can coach our 5th grade boys or girls team, let Mr. Tubbs know.
The Tournament will take place on Thursday, March 3,2016 starting at 2:00 pm at Poinsettia School, 2445 Mica Road in Carlsbad. This is an opportunity for the community to support students and cheer for the players in the District in an active, positive environment.
This event displays a great partnership between CUSD and the City of Carlsbad incorporating the T.R.U.S.T. (Teaching Respect, Unity, and Sportsmanship through Teamwork) code of ethics.
The teams are comprised of 5th grade boys and girls teams from all nine elementary schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District; Aviara Oaks, Buena Vista, Calavera Hills, Hope, Jefferson, Kelly, Magnolia, Pacific Rim, and Poinsettia. Come support the students representing their school! Tournament starts at 2pm with medals being distributed to each of the boys and girls winning team’s players.
