Some people dream of success... while others wake up and work hard at it. ~Author Unknown

the great kindness challenge
This week we join thousands of other students across our world in promoting the Great Kindness Challenge. We have planned activities every day this week to help emphasis Kindness, including Spirit Days for students to dress according to the theme below:
: Peace, Hope, Love, and Kindness Day. Students can wear clothing or accessories with a peace, hope, love, or kindness message.
: Dreaming of World Wide Kindness. Pajama Day...Wear your pajamas as we dream/envision a world that is full of acts of kindness.
: Kindness Rocks! Dress like a Rock Star to emphasize Kindness Rocks!
: Ride the Wave of Kindness. Wear beach/surf/hawaiian attire
: Team up for Kindness. Wear your Hope Hawk spirit wear or team attire.
Students in grades 1st-5th can participate in a lunch time activity every day that will focus on a kind deed for others. Look for the suggested checklist of 50 ways students can demonstrate kindness to others at school, in the home, in our community, and around our world. Thank you Jennifer Hardy for coordinating this great week!

CLOTHES DONATIONS NEEDED
Our health office is in need of donated clothes. These items are used when we have a temporary need of a change of clothes (as when students find that ONE muddy spot on the field). The majority of the need is for Kindergarten - 2nd grade items, but we could always use sweats for grades 3 - 5. Just drop them off in the front/health office. Items needed include:
Shorts (with adjustable waistbands) / Sweats / T-Shirts / Socks / New undergarments

Your student has new standards to master! The Common Core State Standards offer schools, teachers, students and parents clear, understandable, and consistent standards in English language arts and mathematics. The CCSS defines the knowledge and skills students should take away from their K-12 schooling to be successfully prepared for postsecondary and career opportunities.
The Smarter Balanced Practice Tests allow teachers, students, parents, and other interested parties to experience the features of online testing and gain insight into how Smarter Balanced will assess students’ mastery of the Common Core.
We encourage you to take the practice test by following this link: http://www.smarterbalanced.org/pilot-test/
